Bakan [North Sulawesi]

Bakan achieved initial production in Dec-13 having been built in just 24 months under extreme wet weather conditions that challenged both the construction and development teams. The mine uses a dynamic heap leach approach that is very suitable for such high sulphidation, epithermal, low-grade oxide ores and is a low cash cost producer.

 

There is great potential to expand reserves in CY16 at Main Ridge, Campsite, Vila & North Osela.
Exploration targets exist at Busa, Gunung Botak and Jalina, all within trucking distance to the central process plant. Generative work is also reviewing a number of other significant prospects within the Bakan Block including the South Gosan,  Tobayagan, Marpaung and others (Gloria, Pusian & Lantungan).

Seruyung [North Kalimantan]

 

Seruyung achieved initial production in Jan-14 having been built in just 18 months from first drilling to first gold pour; a tribute to both the staff and the contractors. Might be a world record! Seruyung also uses a dynamic heap leach approach that is very suitable for such high sulphidation, epithermal, low-grade oxide ores and is a low cash cost producer.

 

There remains potential to expand reserves in CY16 at the Western Breccia, Ada Raye and the Northern Colluvium. Exploration targets also exist further west at Ada Isut (1.5km) & Dulun (5km) that will likely extend the current life of mine. Generative work is also in progress on the porphyry potential beneath the epithermal system but the sulphide ore base will be prioritized first.

Penjom [Pahang, Malaysia]

 

Penjom has been in operation since 1996 and is the longest producing gold mining in Malaysia. The site has been a model mine for visiting professionals and students alike for many years. Penjom uses a standard milling approach which is suitable for orogenic, medium-grade sulphide ore. The initial CIL process method was later modified to RIL to neutralize active carbon.

 

Current life of mine can be expanded at Kalampong Hill-5, Hill-4S4 and Bukit Harapan and thereafter there is potential north along strike. Exploration targets also exist to the south at Selaras and Bukit Beras that are within trucking distance to the existing process plant. Generative work is now reviewing the entire Raub-Bentong Suture Zone for Penjom look-alikes and other related gold mineralization systems.

North Lanut [North Sulawesi]

 

 

North Lanut has been in operation since 2004 and is the longest serving heap leach mine in Indonesia. The project has been a model mine for training national mining engineers. Lanut previously utilized a static heap leach approach for high sulphidation, epithermal, low-grade oxide ores but many pads have now been retreated to improve recovery.

 

There is limited potential to expand current life of mine at Talugon even though ore grade is good.
Exploration targets still exist at Badaro and Atoga, both within trucking distance to the process plant, but may not be economic. Generative work continues to review a number of other significant prospects with the Lanut Block as part of a review of the JRBM Contract of Work but any such discoveries will likely be stand-alone.
