PT J Resources Nusantara (J Resources) successfully hosted its Third Annual J Kids Holiday Workshop, reaffirming the company's commitment to fostering environmental awareness among the children of its employees. Held under the theme "Trash to Treasure: Learning to Manage Waste Through Creativity and Fun," the workshop introduced young participants to the principles of sustainability through interactive and engaging activities that encouraged creativity, environmental responsibility, and hands-on learning.
The initiative reflects J Resources' commitment to sustainability by introducing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) values to the next generation through engaging and age-appropriate learning experiences. By combining education with creativity, the program aims to foster environmentally responsible habits from an early age.
Unlike a traditional classroom setting, J Kids provides an interactive environment where children explore important topics through games, hands-on workshops, and collaborative activities. Participants learn that even the smallest actions can make a meaningful difference for both the environment and the communities around them.
A Three-Year Journey of Meaningful Learning
Since its launch in 2024, J Kids has introduced a different theme each year while maintaining a common objective: providing meaningful learning experiences that help shape children's character and values.
During its inaugural year, the program focused on safety awareness. Children learned how to respond to emergencies such as earthquakes and fires through simple simulations. They also participated in an office tour, visiting their parents' workstations and gaining first-hand insight into various professions within the company. The experience was designed to help children appreciate their parents' contributions while inspiring them to dream about their own future careers.
In its second year, J Kids highlighted the importance of biodiversity conservation. The program welcomed not only employees' children but also the children of media partners, strengthening collaboration beyond the company. Participants planted tree seedlings, learned about different plant species, and even transformed butterfly pea flowers into natural herbal tea. Through these activities, they discovered the importance of protecting nature while making responsible use of its resources.
Turning Waste into Lasting Memories
This year's workshop partnered with Rumah Budaya Indonesia to deliver a creative recycling experience. Children transformed discarded cardboard boxes into personalized photo frames while learning the principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (3R) in an engaging and enjoyable way. The activity demonstrated that materials often considered waste can be given a new purpose through creativity.
The workshop became even more meaningful as each participant brought a family photograph from home. After decorating their handmade frames, the children placed their family photos inside and presented them to their parents working at J Resources to display on their office desks.
For J Resources, these photo frames represent much more than a craft project. What was once discarded cardboard became a keepsake filled with emotional value. Every frame serves as a daily reminder of family love, children's pride in their parents, and the belief that environmental stewardship begins at home through simple habits such as reusing materials that still have value.
Building a Sustainable Mindset from an Early Age
According to Anang Rizkani Noor, Chief Sustainability Officer of PT J Resources Nusantara, J Kids reflects the company's commitment to preparing future generations who are not only knowledgeable but also socially and environmentally responsible.
"We want children to understand that protecting the environment does not always begin with large-scale actions. With creativity, something as simple as a used cardboard box can be transformed into an object of value and meaning. We hope every photo frame displayed on their parents' desks becomes a symbol of family, environmental responsibility, and sustainability—values that continue to grow together at J Resources," said Anang.
Through J Kids, J Resources hopes that sustainability values will extend beyond the workplace and into employees' homes, where children and their families can practice environmentally friendly habits together. By instilling these values at an early age, the company aims to help cultivate a generation that carries a lifelong commitment to sustainability and responsible citizenship.
