J Resources' Community Empowerment Receives Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Award

PT J Resources Bolaang Mongondow (JRBM), a mining company under PT J Resources Asia Pacific, Tbk (PSAB) group, won the Subroto 2023 award for the most innovative PPM (Community Development and Empowerment) in the category of Metal Mineral Commodity. The award ceremony was held at the Kempinski Hotel, Jakarta, on Friday, September 29, 2023.

JRBM, which operates in the Bolaang Mongondow Regency, East Bolaang Mongondow Regency and South Bolaang Mongondow Regency, North Sulawesi Province, began to initiate planting and fostering cocoa farmers in 2019.

Starting with twenty-two farmers in two villages, the program has grown to one hundred and twenty farmers by the end of 2022. The program has also attracted the interest of around one hundred independent farmers in the vicinity.

In addition to the support of seeds, fertilizers and agricultural tools, the most important part of this program is the coaching, daily supervision that carried out by Field Agricultural Extension Workers (PPL). In addition to technical matters, motivation is also provided during the coaching visits.

Efforts to maintain sustainability are starting to be made through the use of organic fertilizers, which utilizing coconut husks, cocoa peels, banana stems, water hyacinth and several other natural materials that are easily found and highly available around by farmers and have not been utilized before.

"Sustainability, which is an important global issue, is also our concern. The cocoa program steps towards agro forestry began to be carried out to ensure that the social and environmental aspects are maintained," said Anang Rizkani Noor, President Director of JRBM who is also the Chief Sustainability Officer of PT J Resources Nusantara (JRN),

JRBM also won prestigious awards from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) in two categories, namely the Main Award for Mining Environmental Management Aspects and the Pratama Award for Mining Safety Aspects.

JRBM had also received the Good Mining Practice Award from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in 2020. This achievement complements the company's commitment to maintain natural resources in a good and sustainable manner.

The Subroto Award was held by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in order to welcome the 78th Mining and Energy Day, and also as a form of respect for Professor Subroto, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources from 1978-1988. The Subroto Award is the highest award for people who have advanced the energy and mineral resources sector in Indonesia within the past year.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif in his remarks said the Subroto Award is an appreciation from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to stakeholders in the energy and mineral resources sector who have the best performance.

"The Subroto Award is the highest award given by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to stakeholders who have performed the best in advancing the energy and mineral resources sector in Indonesia within the past year," Arifin said in Jakarta, Friday (29/9).

The Minister also hopes that the Subroto Award will make a real contribution to the development of the ESDM sector and encourage the creation of new innovations for clean energy development and can encourage stakeholders to be more productive."I congratulate the Subroto awardees in 2023. Hopefully it can motivate all stakeholders to increase productivity and performance for the development of the ESDM sector," he concluded.
