“This is proof of the implementation of good mining principles, considering that this award is given by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, which always conducts strict supervision of the company's performance.”
Anang Rizkani Noor, President Director of PT J Resources Bolaang Mongondow, He emphasized that all elements of Good Mining Practices become the company's guidelines in acting in the field at all times, because of its broad impact, not only on the environment, but also on economic and social aspects.
“In the environmental aspect, we focus on regulatory compliance first. However, we maintain several 'beyond compliance' initiatives every year, including the international cyanide management certification from ICMI (International Cyanide Management Institute). The company is declared to have met the standards in accordance with the International Cyanide Management Code (Cyanide Code),” Anang explained.
As a mining company, J Resources is committed to always fulfill and even exceed existing obligations. “The main thing in Good Mining Practices is the implementation of high standards, accompanied by training which is part of J Safety, which has been implemented since the beginning of operations. As a result, J Resources carries out mining activities that are safe for employees and the surrounding community,” he added.
Adding Motivation
Director General of Mineral and Coal, Tri Winarno, explained that this award was intended to give appreciation to mining companies holding KK, PKP2B, IUP, IUPK, and mining service companies holding IUJP. “They have excelled in applying the rules of good mineral and coal mining techniques, as well as adding motivation for all mining business actors to continue to carry out operations according to the principles of good mineral and coal mining engineering principles,” he said.
He also reminded that this award is not the main goal, but rather a motivation for all mining people to continue to apply Good Mining Engineering Rules. “Thus, mining operations can be managed by prioritizing human safety (people) and environmental protection (planet), in addition to achieving profit targets. It also has a positive impact and contribution to state revenue, regional development, and sustainable development,” Tri concluded.
Meanwhile, in his remarks, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, expressed his gratitude to all mining companies that have contributed to state revenue. He emphasized that post-mining management is very important to be considered by mining companies.
“I ask you to take care of the environment. If you do not pay attention to the environment properly, I am drafting rules so that friends (mining entrepreneurs) are more orderly. I do not want to act arbitrarily against entrepreneurs, but please follow good environmental rules, so that there is sustainability,” Bahlil concluded. (CMA)
